A reasonably priced Priorat from one of the best producers in the region. Deep red color with chewy, yet supple black cherry and currant flavor with a hint of cocoa and anise.
Description
RATING: 91 points --Robert Parker's Wine Advocate DESCRIPTION/REVIEWS: "Purple-colored, it exhibits a fragrant bouquet of cedar, mineral, spice box, incense, black cherry, and blackberry. This is followed by a full-bodied, dense, rich wine with excellent harmony, potential complexity, and a fruit-filled finish."--Wine Advocate 91 pts
"Dark red. Precise cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complicated by cocoa, anise and dried flowers. Supple, chewy dark fruit flavors are gently supported by dusty tannins, with good acid lift on the back. Finishes with excellent juicy persistence and a jolt of bitter cherry."—Steven Tanzer –90 pts
“As for a collectible wine in Priorat that sells for under $50, my vote goes to Alvaro Palacios Les Terrasses ...” -- The Wine Spectator
Due to its extraordinary quality and attractive price, Les Terrasses has acquired a passionate following all its own. Alvaro relies on some of Priorat’s finest small growers to produce this wine; to get the best fruit from the steepest and oldest vineyards, he has been known to offer them three times the going rate. Les Terrasses consists of approximately 30% Garnacha, 60% Cariñena, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
